Are Mastiffs good with kids and families?
Yes — Mastiffs are famously gentle, patient, and devoted family dogs. Despite their size, they're known as "gentle giants" who are calm indoors and deeply bonded to their people. (Early socialization and supervision around small children, given their size, is always wise.)
Do Basset Hounds need a lot of exercise?
They need moderate, regular exercise — daily walks keep them healthy and at a good weight, which is especially important for protecting their long backs. They're relaxed indoors but do love to follow a scent!
How long do Mastiffs live?
Like most giant breeds, Mastiffs have a shorter lifespan, typically around 6–10 years. Responsible health testing and keeping them at a healthy weight support the longest, healthiest life possible.
